ALFED’s Strategic Advocacy Model Gains International Recognition Following Key Presentation to Aluminium Denmark Mar 16, 2026

The Aluminium Federation (ALFED) has announced that its advocacy initiative, “The Element of Choice: A Sustainable Future,” has earned widespread international recognition. Designed to enhance understanding of the aluminium sector and strengthen policy influence through strategic storytelling, the project recently gained prominence via a high-profile presentation delivered to Aluminium Denmark—the leading representative of Denmark’s aluminium industry.

Invited by Aluminium Denmark, which unites companies across the entire Danish aluminium value chain (from production to recycling) and provides political advocacy and strategic support both domestically and in Europe, Nadine Bloxsome, Chief Executive of ALFED, shared the insights, methodology, and outcomes of “The Element of Choice” with the Danish audience.

The presentation, attended by members, industry leaders, and policymakers from the Danish aluminium community, highlighted how ALFED’s strategic storytelling approach has transformed sector advocacy. By moving beyond technical policy submissions, the initiative has helped boost the visibility, credibility, and understanding of the UK aluminium sector among key stakeholders.

Developed in partnership with Content With Purpose, “The Element of Choice” is anchored by a suite of engaging content: an Impact Showcase Film, expert interviews, member-led documentaries, and case studies. The project was specifically crafted to address a common challenge for strategic materials sectors—the gap between the industry’s economic and technical importance and policymakers’ actual understanding of it. By centering real aluminium businesses and supply chain voices in its narrative, the initiative has enabled more effective advocacy engagement.

Since its launch, the campaign has achieved impressive results: over 5.4 million impressions, 2.5 million video views, and engagement levels that exceed typical industry benchmarks. Its reach spans policymakers, trade bodies, manufacturers, and sustainability leaders, facilitated by coordinated media coverage, direct stakeholder distribution, and digital channels. Notably, the campaign’s content continues to be used in government briefings, stakeholder meetings, and industry events.

Commenting after the presentation, Nadine Bloxsome said: “The positive reception from Aluminium Denmark reflects a shared strategic challenge: ensuring that aluminium is not only recognised as critical but genuinely understood in its complexity and contribution. This project demonstrates how clear, credible storytelling, grounded in real industry voices, can directly support advocacy, influence thinking, and improve policy-relevant conversations across national contexts.”

Aluminium Denmark, a national association representing a diverse membership across the full aluminium value chain, is actively working to strengthen the industry’s strategic positioning and foster collaboration at both national and European levels. The invitation for ALFED to present underscores the growing interest among peer associations in reimagining how the sector engages externally with policymakers, media, and other stakeholders.

The international attention garnered by “The Element of Choice” is a testament not only to its successful reach and engagement metrics but also to its practical value as a model for trade associations looking to amplify their advocacy impact in a competitive policy landscape.
