To advance its global decarbonization goals, beverage and packaging equipment provider KHS Group has put a new solar PV system into operation at its Ahmedabad, India manufacturing site. Completed in three months and launched in early March, the system powers the factory’s production and office facilities with renewable energy.
Featuring a capacity of 750.2 kWp, the solar plant generates 1,100 MWh of green electricity annually and cuts the factory’s Scope 2 carbon emissions by up to 1,000 metric tons per year.
Biresh Banerjee, KHS India’s supervisor for sustainability and energy management, noted the project underscores the brand’s commitment to green development and its local leading position in sustainable manufacturing. The installation has boosted the site’s energy self-sufficiency, limiting grid power reliance to just 20%.
Capitalizing on Ahmedabad’s rich solar resources, KHS plans to expand the PV system to 1,051 kWp by 2028. With pre-built supporting infrastructure, the factory will achieve full energy self-sufficiency after the upgrade.
